Zcash Outperforms Bitcoin and Ethereum as Analyst Flags Three Cracks
Zcash rose 16.8% over the past week to $411.70, outpacing Bitcoin and Ethereum, while Joao Wedson of Alphractal flagged weak on‑chain structure, low holder activity and falling social engagement.
Zcash traded at $411.70 after a 16.8% gain over the past week, outperforming Bitcoin and Ethereum among the top 100 cryptocurrencies. At the time of reporting the token was up about 6.95% on the day and ranked among the strongest weekly performers in its cohort.
Crypto trader Altcoin Sherpa identified $398 as a key resistance-turned-support level. He outlined a scenario in which ZEC could rise into the mid-$400s or low-$500s if it stayed above that zone, and he warned of a “big pullback” once those levels were reached.
Joao Wedson, founder and CEO of Alphractal, flagged three specific concerns about the rally. He cautioned that ZEC lacks a supportive on‑chain structure and that long‑term holder activity has been limited after earlier movements by large holders. Wedson also pointed to a sharp decline in social media posts about Zcash, which he described as falling retail interest at current prices.
Wedson highlighted the Alpha Price metric, used by some analysts to estimate potential cycle tops, noting a large gap near $1,500 for ZEC that he views as inconsistent with the token’s historical pattern. He added that the market’s sensitivity could prompt sellers who have not yet liquidated remaining holdings.
Zcash is a privacy‑focused cryptocurrency that uses zero‑knowledge proofs to conceal transaction details. Its price has drawn traders seeking volatility; the recent breakout above $398 has focused attention on volume, on‑chain flows and social metrics as signals of whether buying interest will continue.
Traders and analysts are monitoring whether ZEC can sustain momentum above the breakout level and whether long‑term holder activity and social engagement pick up. Market participants will likely watch on‑chain transfers and trading volume for signs of renewed demand or increased supply returning to exchanges.
