Trump Media $165M Bitcoin Transfer Leaves 3.43 BTC Gap

Blockchain trackers flagged a 2,628 BTC transfer valued at about $165.07 million from wallets linked to Trump Media, leaving an unmatched 3.43 BTC against the company’s March filing.

Blockchain trackers identified a transfer of 2,628 BTC on Aug. 2 from addresses linked to Trump Media, which on-chain accounts valued at roughly $165.07 million. Combined with an earlier May 22 movement of about 2,650 BTC, the two flows total about 5,278 BTC.

In its March 31 filing, Trump Media reported 9,542.16 BTC in its treasury and listed 4,260.73 BTC as collateral for convertible notes. Subtracting the collateral produces 5,281.43 BTC, leaving a numeric difference of 3.43 BTC when compared with the two tracked outflows.

One on-chain account characterized the August transfer as a sale of roughly $165.07 million. Public blockchain records alone do not prove a market sale or relinquishment of control. Wallet labels, visible balances and analytics-cluster attributions are not custodial records and cannot show every step of a transaction or final custody.

Trump Media’s disclosures from 2025 named Crypto.com and Anchorage Digital as custodians for its Bitcoin treasury. A movement to an address associated with a custodian could represent a custody transfer between providers, an internal account move, or a market sale.

The March filing also noted that the company had pledged 2,000 BTC as collateral in covered-call arrangements referencing 4,000 BTC; those options expired June 30. The post-expiry status of that pledged collateral has not been disclosed. Counterparties can sometimes reuse pledged collateral, which complicates reconciliations based solely on the public ledger.

Interim CEO Kevin McGurn in May described recent treasury movements as reflecting “account diversification for security and efforts to earn yield.” He did not provide an updated total Bitcoin balance at the time.

To determine whether the tracked transfers were sales, custody transfers, collateral adjustments or other treasury actions, Trump Media or its custodians would need to publish account-level reconciliations linking on-chain movements to custody records. Public chain data show a close numeric match but do not establish control, trade execution or final custody.
