TRON Tops $30 Trillion Volume, Faces Compliance Tests

TRON surpassed $30 trillion in lifetime volume and holds more than $94 billion in USDT. TRM Labs estimated about $26 billion in illicit transfers in 2024; T3 froze over $450 million.

TRON recorded more than $30 trillion in cumulative transaction value since launch and now hosts over $94 billion of Tether’s USDT. TRM Labs estimated the chain handled roughly $26 billion in illicit transfers in 2024. The T3 Financial Crime Unit reported it had frozen more than $450 million in suspicious assets by May 2026.

TRON DAO reported the network processed about $6 trillion in USDT transfers during 2026, averaging nearly $25 billion a day. The network has logged over 15 billion transactions across roughly 405 million accounts. The $30 trillion figure covers total value moved on the chain and does not break down merchant payments, exchange transfers or wallet-to-wallet flows.

Payment-card activity has increased on the network. TRON accounted for 34% of crypto payment-card volume in the second quarter of 2026, up from 33% in the first quarter, while overall card volume rose to $2.4 billion from $2.0 billion. Financial firms have launched products tied to TRON: a staked TRX exchange-traded fund began trading in September 2026, a custody provider added TRX staking and TRC-20 asset custody, and a tokenized Hamilton Lane fund was issued on the network through a compliance platform.

TRM Labs identified more than $26 billion of illicit crypto flows on TRON out of $45 billion it flagged in 2024. The activity included funds linked to scams, exchange hacks, sanctioned entities and darknet markets. TRM Labs cited low transaction costs and wide access to stablecoins as factors behind the concentration of flagged flows.

The T3 Financial Crime Unit was established in 2024 with TRM Labs and says it works with authorities in 23 jurisdictions. T3 has supported investigations involving exchange hacks, activity linked to North Korea, alleged terrorist financing, drug trafficking and violent crime. T3 reported that in some instances law-enforcement requests led to freezing suspicious USDT within 24 hours.

Regulatory and legal history on the network includes a 2023 lawsuit filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that named Justin Sun, the Tron Foundation and related entities, alleging securities violations and manipulative trading. A March 2026 resolution settled a wash-trading claim against Rainberry and dismissed the remaining claims against Rainberry, Justin Sun, the Tron Foundation and the BitTorrent Foundation.

Network operators and enforcement partners state that compliance tools have been strengthened. Asset managers, custodians and payment firms have begun offering products on TRON and will monitor how compliance controls perform as USDT flows and payment activity grow.
