Toncoin legacy bridge closes Sept. 1, 2026

The TON Foundation will shut bridge-v3.ton.org on Sept. 1, 2026. Withdraw Wrapped TON on Ethereum or BNB Chain and return j-tokens to Ethereum before access ends.

The TON Foundation announced that its legacy Token Bridge, bridge-v3.ton.org, will permanently close on Sept. 1, 2026. Holders must withdraw Wrapped Toncoin (TON) held on Ethereum or BNB Chain and return j-tokens from TON wallets to Ethereum via the bridge before the deadline to retain access to those assets.

The foundation confirmed all previously submitted user transfers have been processed and that the protocol covered fees for unclaimed transfers. To ease the final withdrawal period, the foundation has waived percentage-based transfer fees for withdrawals made before the cutoff.

Wrapped TON on Ethereum or BNB Chain needs to be bridged back to the TON network through bridge-v3.ton.org. Tokens issued on TON that are pegged to other chains — including jUSDT, jUSDC, jDAI and jWBTC — must be returned to Ethereum using the same bridge. Any bridged assets left on external chains or left in bridged form after Sept. 1, 2026 will no longer be accessible through the legacy bridge.

Bridge oracles will withdraw their staked TON in June 2026, which the foundation described as the first visible phase of the shutdown. The oracles will continue processing transfers up to the final cutoff on Sept. 1, giving users roughly three months from the June actions to complete withdrawals.

Users are advised to check their Ethereum, BNB Chain and TON wallets immediately and initiate withdrawals well before the deadline to allow for potential network congestion, wallet issues or other delays. The fee waiver applies only during the remaining withdrawal window.

The retirement of the legacy bridge coincides with governance and development changes following Telegram’s involvement and leadership under Pavel Durov, which increased attention on the network. Telegram’s CEO announced a recent protocol upgrade to TON. The foundation characterized the bridge closure as part of a transition to newer cross-chain solutions and the continued development of TON’s native DeFi infrastructure.

Users who have balances on external chains should visit bridge-v3.ton.org to complete withdrawals before Sept. 1, 2026. Any tokens not returned by that date will not be retrievable through the legacy bridge.
