TAC halts validators after token-supply exploit; TON link offline

TAC stopped validator block production on Aug. 22 after reporting an exploit limited to the TAC token supply. TON connection is offline; TAC has not disclosed amounts or a restart date.

TAC, an EVM network connected to TON, halted validator block production on Aug. 22 after reporting a vulnerability it described as affecting only the TAC token supply. The team coordinated the halt with validators and posted the notice on its official channels; technical details have not been released.

The TAC explorer API shows block 24,671,475, timestamped 11:58:11 p.m. UTC on Aug. 22, as the latest block. Checks at about 1:03 p.m. UTC on Aug. 23 and 7:58 a.m. UTC on Aug. 24 returned the same block, indicating block production had not resumed during those checks.

TAC has not identified the unauthorized TAC amount, the exploit transaction or block height, the vulnerable component, affected wallets, user losses, or a timetable for restarting block production. The project has stated only that the issue involves the token supply.

The team did not explain why the problem could not be isolated below the full-chain level. TAC has not specified whether validators must reconcile native, wrapped, bridged, staked, exchange-held or protocol-controlled TAC balances before agreeing on a canonical state. Available evidence does not establish that every one of those balance categories was affected.

On May 11, TAC reported a separate bridge breach tied to its sequencer software and the TON jetton system. TAC’s May post-mortem stated the sequencer failed to verify a token wallet’s code hash and expected minter, which allowed counterfeit deposit messages to be accepted, unbacked equivalents to be issued on TAC, and locked assets on TON to be released. TAC put the May incident’s protocol loss at about $2,854,486.22 as of May 12.

During the May response, TAC halted the sequencer set that connected TAC to TON while its EVM layer remained operational. The Aug. 22 halt was coordinated at the validator level and covers full block production; TAC has not provided evidence linking the two incidents or published a loss figure for the current event.

Until TAC publishes technical details of the Aug. 22 supply incident and a reconciled token-supply figure, the confirmed items are limited: validators stopped block production on Aug. 22, the project reports the issue involves the TAC token supply only, the TAC–TON connection remains offline, and the conditions for resuming the chain have not been disclosed.
