Stripe enables stablecoin payments on Link in US
Stripe enabled stablecoin payments on Stripe Link for eligible U.S. merchants, allowing crypto-wallet payments on Payment Links, Checkout and Elements with USD settlement.
Stripe has enabled stablecoin payments on Stripe Link for eligible U.S. merchants. Customers can pay with crypto wallets on Payment Links, Stripe Checkout and Elements, and merchants receive settlement in U.S. dollars to their Stripe balance.
When merchants activate Link, Stripe automatically makes the stablecoin option available on the Link checkout surfaces. There is no separate toggle to enable stablecoins for Link; activation of Link turns the option on for the supported payment interfaces.
Customers who choose the Crypto option in Link are redirected to crypto.stripe.com, where they connect and authorize a wallet and confirm the payment in-wallet. Stripe records these transactions as Link payments so returning buyers can reuse saved wallet details for faster checkout.
Settlements from Link stablecoin payments arrive in the merchant’s Stripe balance in USD. Merchants do not receive inbound USDC to an on-chain account from the Link checkout flow. Refunds of Link stablecoin payments are returned as stablecoins to the originating wallet. Stripe’s Link documentation states stablecoin payments on Link do not support disputes or the card-style chargeback process.
The feature applies to eligible United States businesses only and requires presentment in USD. Each Link stablecoin payment must be between $1 and $10,000. Stripe documents Link stablecoin transactions as one-time or on-session payments; recurring subscriptions billed through Stripe Billing and Invoicing use Stripe’s broader Crypto product, not the Link-specific flow.
Pricing for Link stablecoin acceptance is separate from Stripe’s general Crypto pricing. The Link stablecoin SKU carries a promotional rate of 0.8% per successful transaction through January 1, 2027, after which Stripe adds 0.2 percentage points. Stripe’s general Crypto stablecoin line is listed at 1.5% for non-Link flows. Merchants should apply the rate that corresponds to the actual payment surface used.
Stripe recommends testing the Link stablecoin flow in sandbox before going live. Testing uses blockchain testnets and requires a browser wallet with testnet tokens. Developer guidance references wallets such as MetaMask, supported testnets (for example Polygon Amoy) and testnet USDC faucets; teams should follow Stripe’s current testing documentation for exact networks and faucets.
The Link-stablecoin option is distinct from other Stripe crypto products. It is not a Bridge Virtual Account for receiving on-chain USDC, not a Treasury receive address, and not a substitute for the Dashboard Crypto enablement used for Billing and Invoicing. Merchants that need inbound on-chain USDC accounts, subscription billing with recurring stablecoin settlements, or different settlement rails should use Stripe’s broader Crypto offerings or third-party services.
Before routing production traffic, merchants should confirm Link is enabled for the specific Payment Links, Checkout or Elements integration in use and run a sandbox payment to verify the customer and settlement experience.
