Solana ETF Inflows Fall 97% as CME Funds Cut Net Short
U.S. Solana ETFs posted $4.9m in net inflows for the week ending Sept. 4, down 97% from $142.7m the prior week; CME leveraged funds’ net short fell to 1,273,000 SOL.
U.S. Solana exchange-traded funds recorded $4.9 million in net inflows in the week ending Sept. 4, a decline of about 97% from $142.7 million in the prior five trading sessions, according to Farside Investors’ weekly tally across six Solana ETF products.
Only three Solana ETF products reported non-zero net flows during the week: BSOL, FSOL and GSOL. VSOL, TSOL and SOEZ reported zero net flow on every session. A zero net figure can result when creations and redemptions offset each other within the reporting period.
On Sept. 4 specifically, Solana ETFs recorded a single-day net outflow of $5.2 million. In the same session, Ethereum ETFs reported net inflows of $25.9 million and Bitcoin ETFs reported net inflows of $174.6 million. For the full week, Bitcoin ETFs had $986.7 million in net inflows, up from $924.5 million the previous week, and Ethereum ETFs had $215.3 million, down from $815.7 million.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission combined positioning report for Sept. 1 shows leveraged funds held 1,069 long and 3,615 short futures-equivalent contracts in CME’s SOL product. With a 500-SOL contract size, that position translates into a net short of 1,273,000 SOL, compared with a net short of 2,166,500 SOL on Aug. 25. The change reflected an increase of 577 contracts on the long side and a decline of 1,210 contracts on the short side.
The CFTC report converts options positions into futures equivalents using exchange-supplied delta factors. The combined-position snapshot predates the closing session on Sept. 4. CME’s SOL contracts are financially settled and do not require delivery of the underlying tokens. The leveraged-fund classification identifies trader type and does not specify the motive behind individual positions.
Net inflow totals report the change in weekly net activity and do not measure total fund assets, the market price of SOL or the number of investors. The weekly net-flow table does not report gross creations and redemptions or flows adjusted for each cohort’s assets under management.
