Shade holders must burn SHD by Aug. 21 to keep Feather access

Shade Protocol requires SHD burned by 18:00 UTC on Aug. 21 to preserve eligibility for a future Feather allocation. The burn is irreversible and Shade has not disclosed the allocation ratio, amount, price or distribution date.

The burn must be completed through the protocol’s on-chain burn form. Holders are required to submit SHD and provide an Ethereum-compatible address. A connected wallet is needed to initiate the transaction. Once executed, the tokens are permanently destroyed and the action cannot be reversed.

At 07:48 UTC on Aug. 21 the Shade app displayed 4,658,007 SHD under “Global Total Burned” and 3,718,238 under “SHD Supply.” The project notes the supply label is not a verified count of tokens still eligible to burn. The interface loaded on-chain data and displayed bridge controls; availability of those interfaces does not confirm settlement of individual transactions.

Holders who miss the Aug. 21 cutoff will forfeit eligibility for any eventual Feather allocation. Completing the burn preserves only eligibility and does not guarantee any allocation size, price or timing.

The SHD deadline coincides with Shade winding down its Secret Network applications. The project has advised users to withdraw assets from pools, lending services and wrapped-asset positions ahead of changes to network support.

Secret Network governance rejected proposal 360, which would have migrated SCRT to Arbitrum and excluded sSCRT, bridged SCRT, IBC assets and contract-held balances from a Sept. 1 snapshot. Instead, proposal 365 passed, scheduling a community-continuance upgrade at block 26,790,327 and leaving existing SCRT balances on the current chain. At 07:51 UTC on Aug. 21 the network had not yet reached the upgrade block.

SCRT Labs plans to end its development and support for the Cosmos-based Secret Layer 1 on Sept. 1, after which the community-continuance plan is intended to maintain the network under new stewardship.

Shade’s documentation repeats that burning SHD only preserves eligibility for Feather and does not guarantee a specific allocation amount, price or distribution timeline.
