SBI invests in dtcpay’s $25M Series A for Asia expansion
Singapore-based dtcpay closed a $25 million Series A on Sept. 18 after Japan’s SBI Group joined as a strategic investor.
Singapore-based stablecoin payments firm dtcpay completed a $25 million Series A on Sept. 18, 2026, after Japan’s SBI Group joined the round as a strategic investor. SBI participated via SBI Ventures Asset Pte Ltd and the SBI-NTU-Kyobo Digital Innovation Fund. Neither SBI nor dtcpay disclosed the size of SBI’s contribution or the company’s post-money valuation.
the round had opened earlier in 2026 with a $10 million tranche led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India. Additional participation in the completed round came from Genedant Capital and existing investor Kwee Liong Tek.
dtcpay said the new capital will be used to rebuild its enterprise business portal, add features to its consumer app and expand its merchant point-of-sale network. The company did not provide launch dates or a detailed allocation of the $25 million.
Chairman Band Zhao framed the raise as a growth step and commented, ‘the next chapter for dtcpay is about scale.’ Eiichiro So, chief executive of SBI Ven Capital, characterized the investment as ‘the start of a strategic partnership rather than a passive allocation’ and linked the deal to plans for expanded digital asset origination between Japan and Southeast Asia.
dtcpay offers digital asset conversion and custody services and operates a point-of-sale product that lets merchants accept stablecoin payments in physical stores. The firm also works with Visa on a stablecoin-to-fiat Visa Infinite card available to customers in Singapore. dtcpay has presented stablecoin rails as a faster, lower-cost alternative to correspondent banking for settlement but did not publish comparative cost or settlement figures with the funding announcement.
Regulatory authorizations form part of dtcpay’s business position. The company holds a Major Payment Institution licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and an Electronic Money Institution licence in Luxembourg. dtcpay also reports regulatory footprints in Hong Kong, Australia and North America. Investors highlighted those permissions as enabling faster cross-border product rollouts in jurisdictions where regulatory approval is required.
The investment by the SBI-NTU-Kyobo fund aligns with other recent SBI Group activity across Asian stablecoin infrastructure. In recent weeks SBI units have signed with a Korean infrastructure firm to build Project Musubi, completed a Japan-Korea stablecoin proof-of-concept that converted a yen stablecoin directly into a won stablecoin, and taken positions in tokenization and validation layers in the region. SBI has also partnered with Ripple, reached an agreement with Ondo Finance on tokenized Japanese equities, and participates as a validator on a new stablecoin-focused network.
The announcement did not include dtcpay revenue figures, transaction volumes or a valuation. The absence of those metrics means the release documents investor backing rather than current operating scale. Hong Kong’s recent regulatory updates allowing regulated stablecoins to trade on licensed platforms and to be used for settlement of tokenized funds provide additional context for dtcpay’s multijurisdictional approach.
