Samsung Wallet to add native stablecoin support

At Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, 2026, Samsung announced Samsung Wallet will support native stablecoins, letting users hold, send, receive and top up balances in the pre-installed app.

Samsung announced at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, 2026 that Samsung Wallet will add native stablecoin support. The feature will let Galaxy users hold, send, receive and top up stablecoin balances directly inside the pre-installed Wallet app.

The company showed a product mockup in the presentation that displayed an account denominated in what appeared to be USDC, but it did not confirm which stablecoins will be supported. Samsung did not provide a launch date, partner names or a list of initial markets.

Lee Dinham, a Samsung product manager, told the Unpacked audience that “Samsung Wallet will expand beyond cash and savings. It will embrace new forms of digital value, including stablecoins,” and described Samsung as “one of the first major mobile brands to bring native stablecoins to a smartphone, enabling fast and trusted digital value transfers.” The interface shown in London was a preview, not a live product.

Native integration means the stablecoin feature would appear inside the Wallet app after a software update, rather than requiring users to discover and download a separate app. Samsung Wallet is pre-installed on more than one billion active Galaxy devices worldwide, allowing potential distribution through routine updates.

Samsung did not name any stablecoin issuers as formal partners during the presentation. The company also did not disclose whether it has secured the regulatory approvals, banking relationships or crypto on-ramps required to support fiat on- and off-ramps in specific jurisdictions.

Samsung said the stablecoin feature will be protected by Samsung Knox, its hardware-backed security platform that already secures payment cards, digital keys and the Blockchain Wallet on Galaxy devices.

Recent Samsung activity in crypto includes an expanded Coinbase partnership announced in October 2025 that lets U.S. Galaxy users buy crypto through Samsung Wallet. In May 2026, Samsung Securities, Samsung SDS and Samsung Card acquired a combined roughly 4% stake in Dunamu, the operator of the South Korean exchange Upbit, for about $408 million. Samsung Electronics and Samsung Card are listed as founding partners of the Open USD consortium, launched June 30, 2026; Samsung has not tied the consortium standard to the Wallet feature shown at Unpacked. Samsung Card has discussed possible collaboration on digital asset payments and a won-backed stablecoin through the Monimo platform.

Before consumers can use native stablecoins in Samsung Wallet, local regulatory approvals, know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering processes and banking or crypto partners for fiat on- and off-ramps will be required in each market. Samsung has not published a rollout timeline or detailed the compliance architecture it will use.

Samsung has not disclosed supported assets, partners, geographic availability or a launch date for the Wallet stablecoin feature.
