Ripple launches Ripple Mint for institutional RLUSD

Ripple on July 23, 2026 launched Ripple Mint, a web console and API for institutional RLUSD minting and management and invested in Notabene for pre-settlement counterparty checks.

Ripple announced Ripple Mint on July 23, 2026 and a strategic investment in compliance firm Notabene. Ripple Mint provides a web console and API that let institutional clients mint, redeem, bridge and manage RLUSD in one environment.

Ripple Mint replaces a manual issuance workflow that required institutions to coordinate directly with Ripple staff. The platform offers real-time tracking of the fiat-to-on-chain lifecycle, webhook notifications for fiat arrivals, token issuance and on-chain settlements, and end-to-end transaction identifiers intended to support reconciliation for exchanges and market makers. The interface supports UI access for treasury teams and programmatic API access for engineering teams.

Ripple said its investment in Notabene adds pre-settlement counterparty identity verification and the ability to authorize transfers before settlement. Notabene connects more than 2,300 virtual asset service providers and financial institutions across over 100 jurisdictions and processes more than $2 trillion in annual transaction volume. Notabene’s tools verify counterparty identity and can perform screening and authorization prior to funds moving, rather than screening only after transactions complete.

Ripple characterized the two announcements as a compliant institutional stack covering fiat wire, identity verification, minting, on-chain transfer, counterparty authorization and redemption, and described the package as its most significant institutional infrastructure investment in RLUSD since the token’s December 2024 launch.

Jack McDonald, senior vice president of stablecoins at Ripple, described Ripple Mint as giving institutions ‘the flexibility to automate stablecoin operations, integrate RLUSD into existing systems, and manage their full RLUSD lifecycle in one place.’

RLUSD is issued by Standard Custody and Trust Company under a New York State Department of Financial Services trust charter and is backed one-for-one by U.S. dollars, Treasury securities and cash equivalents. The token is deployed natively on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum and is available on XRPL’s EVM sidechain and Layer 2 networks including Base, Optimism, Ink and Unichain, with supply split roughly evenly between XRP Ledger and Ethereum.

Market data published with the announcements put RLUSD’s market capitalization at about $1.5 billion. Active addresses interacting with RLUSD rose roughly 70% over the prior month and the number of holders increased about 6%. Monthly on-chain transfer volume for RLUSD fell about 25%, from $14.6 billion to $11 billion over the same period.

Ripple noted its Japan stablecoin operations run through a partnership with SBI Group following approval of a Type 4 electronic payment instrument by the Japan Financial Services Agency on June 25, 2026. Ripple also noted Ripple Mint standardizes institutional minting and integrates Notabene’s pre-settlement checks across RLUSD’s multiple chain deployments.
