Pomelo launches global card for 150+ countries
Pomelo launched a global card program covering 150+ countries, letting businesses issue Visa and Mastercard cards and settle in U.S. dollars or stablecoins via one API.
New York — June 30, 2026 — Pomelo announced a global card program that extends its payments infrastructure to more than 150 countries. The company said businesses can issue Visa and Mastercard virtual and physical cards and settle transactions in U.S. dollars or stablecoins through a single API integration.
Pomelo said the program lets issuers run local, global or hybrid card programs without creating legal entities or local operations in each market. The company said it handles global physical-card production and distribution, provisioning for Apple Pay and Google Pay, and real-time settlement in U.S. dollars or stablecoins.
The firm described the single-partner, single-API model as a way for banks, fintechs and corporate issuers to test demand and scale internationally without upfront local investments. Pomelo said the offering removes the need to obtain separate licenses, connect with multiple local providers or build country-by-country operations.
Pomelo listed clients using the service across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa, including Western Union, BBVA, Santander, Coppel, Kavak, DiDi, Binance, ARQ, AstroPay and PayJoy.
Gastón Irigoyen, Pomelo’s CEO and co-founder, said Latin America operates on multiple payment rails and that the company built infrastructure aimed at letting customers launch payment experiences that follow each country’s rules through a single integration. Alfonso Torreguitar, head of Global Card, said expanding a card program previously required building local infrastructure and partnerships, and that the new product aims to simplify those steps.
Pomelo also offers issuer processing, card tokenization, fraud prevention, credit core systems, loyalty tools, AI-driven chargeback management and corporate spend management. The company has raised more than $160 million from investors including Kaszek, Monashees, Insight Partners and Index Ventures, operates offices in five countries and serves over 170 corporate clients. Pomelo has received recognition from the World Economic Forum, Endeavor, Mastercard and Visa.
