Polygon Brings Payment Services to TRON’s $94B USDT Pool

Polygon Labs will extend its Open Money Stack to TRON on Oct. 8, adding payment and compliance services to a network holding more than $94 billion of USDT.

Polygon Labs announced Oct. 7 that its Open Money Stack will support TRON from Oct. 8. The first phase extends Polygon Ramps, programmable accounts and Polygon Trails to a network holding more than $94 billion of USDT, or over half of Tether’s circulating supply.

Polygon Ramps provides money-transmitter licensing coverage across 48 U.S. states and runs compliance checks for transactions between dollars and stablecoins. Polygon says businesses can use the service for the transmission portion of payments instead of obtaining separate licenses in each state.

Programmable accounts give each customer a permanent deposit address for multiple transactions. Businesses can use the system to send payouts to bank accounts, cards, cash-pickup locations and cryptocurrency wallets.

Polygon Trails routes USDT between TRON and Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible networks. It can convert USDT on TRON to USDC in one transaction, with the bridge process handled behind the user interface.

Businesses can use individual parts of the stack and keep their existing wallet, compliance and ledger providers, according to Polygon.

The services target fintech companies, remittance providers, exchanges and gig-economy platforms in markets including the Philippines, Mexico, Argentina and Nigeria. Polygon did not identify launch customers or disclose transaction-volume commitments or fees.

TRON is the largest single network for USDT. Its low-cost transfers and fast confirmations have made it widely used for retail payments and remittances. The concentration of USDT on TRON has also drawn scrutiny over stablecoin activity in sanctioned and unregulated markets.

Tether can freeze USDT balances on TRON at the issuer level. Polygon’s integration does not make TRON a bank or remove licensing requirements for businesses using the services. Companies remain responsible for identifying the rules that apply to their activities.

The Open Money Stack entered technical preview in June 2026 with USDC and USDT on Polygon. The TRON integration extends the services to a network Polygon does not operate. The announcement included a “Commissioned by TRON” disclosure.
