Pi Network launches SLICE test token as PI nears lows

Pi Network launched SLICE, a Launchpad test token, as PI trades near record lows. SLICE testnet runs through Pi2Day, June 28, and will not go to mainnet.

Pi Network’s core team launched SLICE on Friday as a second Launchpad test token. The SLICE testnet will run until Pi2Day on June 28 and will not be released to mainnet.

The test allows Pioneers to try updated token mechanics inside the Pi Launchpad before any mainnet release. The first Launchpad test token, deployed on Pi Day, March 14, drew participation from more than 478,000 Pioneers. Feedback from that test simplified the participation flow, adjusted Launchpad mechanics and refined the user experience; SLICE incorporates those updates and is intended only for testing.

To participate, users open the Pi Browser, go to the Pi Launchpad, review the SLICE project page, choose a commitment amount in Test-Pi, confirm participation and interact with the Slice of Pi app. In a post on X, the project noted, “SLICE is a Testnet token and will never go on the Mainnet.”

PI has traded near record lows in recent weeks. Broader market selling pushed PI below $0.12 on June 6. The token has recovered about 7% since that low but remains roughly 95.7% below its all-time high from late February 2025, according to market data. The token’s relative strength index is in oversold territory and a scheduled token unlock is pending.

Investors and community members will watch PI price action and user engagement on the Launchpad in the lead-up to Pi2Day. SLICE is part of Pi Network’s testing process for incubation and token mechanics ahead of any mainnet launches.
