Matt Damon to Speak at Ripple Swell on Water.org’s RLUSD

Matt Damon will speak for Water.org at Ripple Swell in New York City Oct. 27–29 and will describe how the charity uses Ripple Payments and RLUSD to speed cross-border funding for Get Blue.

Matt Damon will appear at Ripple Swell in New York City from Oct. 27–29 representing Water.org. He is scheduled to explain how the nonprofit uses Ripple Payments and Ripple USD (RLUSD) to move funding faster for its Get Blue campaign, which targets safe water access for 200 million people by 2030.

Water.org, the nonprofit Damon co-founded, reports it has delivered water and sanitation access to more than 70 million people since its founding. Get Blue launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026. Ripple is listed as the campaign’s exclusive digital asset and payments partner.

Ripple routes RLUSD on the XRP Ledger to settle transfers in minutes rather than days. Water.org uses those faster transfers to accelerate seed funding to local lending partners in Asia, Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa. The organization distributes household water and sanitation loans through microfinance and local financial institutions; quicker receipt of capital shortens the time between funding and local program deployment.

Organizers have combined the annual Swell conference with the XRPL Apex developer summit for the 2026 event. The merged program will run across three stages with more than 50 sessions and organizers expect over 1,500 attendees. Agenda topics include advanced payments, asset tokenization, interoperability, decentralized finance and artificial intelligence.

Ripple reports it has invested more than $550 million into XRPL ecosystem development since 2017. XRP remains one of the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.

Ripple posted the announcement of Damon’s appearance on social media with the message: “Matt Damon, co-founder of @Water, is coming to Ripple Swell — October 27-29 in NYC.” Ripple CTO David Schwartz previewed the conference on social media and wrote: “The best part of these events is always seeing the new ways people are using XRP and building on the XRP Ledger.”
