Interactive Brokers Enters Ethereum’s $110B Staking Market

Interactive Brokers is offering Ethereum staking through zerohash to eligible clients. About 43.7 million ETH, worth $110 billion, is committed to validators across the network.

Interactive Brokers announced the service Oct. 13, 2026. Qualifying Interactive Brokers LLC customers can submit staking and unstaking requests through the Client Portal, while crypto infrastructure provider zerohash handles the service. Rewards are paid in ETH and may compound while the assets remain staked.

The service is available only to customers who meet the brokerage’s eligibility, account and country requirements. Ethereum is the only supported asset at launch. The offering adds staking to a platform where customers can trade stocks, bonds, futures and digital assets.

Chief Executive Milan Galik compared the service with Interactive Brokers’ Stock Yield Enhancement Program, which lets customers earn income by lending eligible shares. “We want clients to earn more from the assets they hold,” Galik said.

About 43.7 million ETH, equal to 35.77% of the cryptocurrency’s circulating supply, is committed to validators, according to validatorqueue.com data based on information from blockchain explorer beaconcha.in. At an ETH price near $2,500, the staked assets are worth about $110 billion.

The amount of staked ETH rose 19% to 43.1 million by June 30 from 36.3 million at the start of January, according to Lido’s first-half report. The increase came while ETH’s dollar value fell 47% during the period. Institutional and custodial platforms accounted for 35.3% of staked ETH at the end of June, up from 25.9% at the beginning of the year.

Lido’s share of the staking market fell to 21.2% from 23.9%, even though the amount of ETH deposited through its protocol increased.

Interactive Brokers has not disclosed a staking fee or guaranteed annual yield. Zerohash says each platform sets its customer fees, which are deducted from staking rewards before customers receive their share. Interactive Brokers’ advertised cryptocurrency trading commissions of 0.12% to 0.18% are separate from staking fees.

Staked ETH cannot be sold or transferred immediately. Customers must request unstaking before accessing their assets, and the process can be delayed by Ethereum’s validator exit queue. About 962,000 ETH was awaiting validator exits, with an estimated wait of nearly 17 days before an additional withdrawal-processing period, according to validatorqueue.com.

The wait can change with network demand, and Interactive Brokers has not provided a guaranteed withdrawal deadline. Staking also carries the risk of slashing, a penalty that can apply when a validator violates network rules.

Interactive Brokers said cryptocurrency held through its crypto providers is outside the brokerage’s custody and is not covered by Securities Investor Protection Corp. protection.
