Hunter Biden to Launch LAPTOP Memecoin, Targets TRUMP Holders

Hunter Biden plans to launch a memecoin named LAPTOP on Sept. 9 on the Coinbase Base network. The token will have a fixed supply of 1 billion units and will include an airdrop for wallets that lost money holding the TRUMP memecoin.
The token’s distribution allocates 30% to founders, including Biden, with those tokens locked for six months and then vesting over two years. Twenty percent of the supply is set aside for two rounds of airdrops: one for Biden’s Substack subscribers and one specifically for wallets that sustained losses on TRUMP. Up to 30% of the supply is tied to political, cultural and crypto outcomes that could trigger permanent token burns or, if conditions are not met, transfers to charity.
Specified burn triggers include a Democratic presidential victory in 2028, Bitcoin reaching a new record high, and LAPTOP surpassing TRUMP in market value. The project frames the token around the laptop controversy from 2019, and Biden promoted the LAPTOP ticker on X with a video revisiting that episode.
The planned airdrop aimed at holders who lost on TRUMP seeks to attract traders who previously invested in the rival memecoin. The token’s name refers to a laptop left at a Delaware repair shop in 2019 whose contents became a political issue during the 2020 campaign.
Hunter Biden has criticized the Trump family’s crypto activities while also expressing support for blockchain technology. He described World Liberty Financial as “corruption at a scale we’ve never seen” and has characterized cryptocurrency as offering “incredible promise.” He has spoken publicly about memecoins and mentioned interest in a community-driven token.
Hunter Biden does not hold a government office. By contrast, Donald Trump reported more than $1.4 billion in income in 2025 tied to family crypto ventures, including nearly $800 million related to World Liberty Financial and about $635 million tied to the TRUMP memecoin. The White House rejected claims that those businesses create improper conflicts.
The founders’ 30% allocation will begin unlocking after the six-month lockup and will vest over two years; once unlocked, those tokens could be transferred or sold. The token’s design ties specific political and market outcomes to supply mechanics and reserves a notable share for founders and promotional distributions.
