Genius launches G.OX options exchange for crypto traders

Genius announced G.OX, a crypto derivatives platform that offers capital-efficient up/down option contracts settled on objective market prices and using an actively managed liquidity model to compete with perpetual futures.
The contracts let traders take directional positions on crypto assets through binary-style outcomes. Settlements use predefined prices, timestamps and market feeds rather than external event resolution. Genius describes the design as a way to price market risk and volatility instead of beliefs about events. Founder Armaan Kalsi said, “Prediction markets primarily price beliefs about events. G.OX is intended to price risk and volatility in financial markets.”
G.OX removes open-ended leverage mechanics associated with perpetual futures and sets a fixed maximum loss at entry. The contracts avoid recurring funding payments, eliminate liquidation risk tied to margin calls and allow traders to take positions for defined time horizons.
Genius identified liquidity as a core reason options have lagged in crypto. High volatility can prevent standard options market-making models from updating quotes fast enough, producing stale prices and poor execution during market moves. That liquidity gap contributed to the rise of perpetual futures, which supply continuous liquidity and simpler execution.
To address that problem, G.OX will use an actively managed liquidity system that adjusts pricing and inventory as the underlying asset moves. The firm says the system aims to keep quotes responsive and maintain available size during volatile periods. Kalsi added that an options venue must show quoted probability and available size that reflect current market conditions.
G.OX is the first stage of a broader Genius Options Protocol. The company plans to add new instrument designs, advanced strategies and deeper decentralized finance integrations over time. The platform launches into a derivatives market dominated by established centralized and decentralized exchanges that handle billions in daily volume.
Institutional participation in crypto has increased, and options on Bitcoin and Ethereum are now more widely used by professional traders for hedging and measuring sentiment. Genius positions G.OX as a product intended to expand the options market by tackling liquidity and execution challenges and simplifying product design.
