Firelight Puts XRP-Linked Tokens in 30- to 60-Day Queues

Firelight automatically moved staked FXRP into coverage on Oct. 6, exposing holders to pooled claim losses and putting unstaking requests into 30- to 60-day withdrawal queues.

Firelight, a decentralized finance cover protocol on Flare, automatically moved existing staked FXRP into its coverage phase on Oct. 6. The change means stakers can absorb losses at covered vaults and must wait 30 to 60 days to withdraw after starting an unstake request.

FXRP is an XRP-backed asset on Flare. Firelight vault positions are represented by stXRP. Existing Phase 1 depositors did not need to complete a separate migration transaction. Their capital can now cover losses at integrated vaults, including Sentora’s USD Protected Vault and Protected RWA Vault.

Under Firelight’s loss process, a validated claim first draws from the protocol’s First-Loss Buffer, which holds stablecoins. Any remaining loss is distributed pro rata among covered vault positions. Stakers therefore share exposure to claims across the portfolio. Their positions do not have separate cover from Firelight.

The wallet identified as the First-Loss Buffer held about 1,000,002.59 USDT0 on Oct. 14. That balance does not establish the reserve’s available cushion because current liabilities, pending claims and payment obligations have not been reconciled.

When a holder starts an unstake, new vault rewards stop accruing. The corresponding stXRP is redeemed, while the underlying FXRP enters a withdrawal queue. During the first 30-day period, the capital continues to back new cover. During the following reconciliation period, it no longer backs new cover, although a claim linked to the earlier backing period can still reduce the amount returned.

FXRP becomes available at the end of the following full period, creating a documented wait of 30 to 60 days. The holder must then submit a withdrawal transaction. Firelight’s launch announcement said emissions would continue until a position fully exited. Its more specific withdrawal rules and current vault implementation indicate that new accrual stops when unstaking begins.

Firelight recorded its first cover settlements on Oct. 6. Three orders allocated a combined $38 million in coverage for period 308 and charged about $56,913.70 in premiums. Two orders were labeled Sentora USD Protected and Sentora RWA, with allocations of $2.5 million and $5 million.

Settlement premiums are transferred from the cover buyer to a collector before an order is recorded. Reward-distribution records show 9,245.46 FXRP sent to a vault across events on Oct. 6, 8 and 12, plus 14,045.40 FXRP recorded as separate incentives. The records show 12,900.44 USDT0 associated with three premium-sale events, but the contract data does not independently verify the underlying swaps.

A separate early-contributor campaign has a fixed allocation of 230,000 FXRP, distributed according to eligible Firelight Points. That allocation is separate from recurring vault income and does not show how much has been claimed.

Firelight’s total value locked was about $69.7 million on Oct. 14, according to DefiLlama data that counts FXRP held in the vault. An explorer snapshot showed about 51.13 million FXRP there, including assets awaiting withdrawal. Counting XRP backing, FXRP and stXRP separately would count the same underlying capital more than once.

XRP reached an intraday low of $1.32 on Oct. 14. Because Firelight’s cover resources include the market value of staked assets, a fall in XRP’s price can reduce the dollar value supporting coverage before a claim is filed.
