FIFA runs World Cup ticketing on Avalanche; AVAX jumps
FIFA is using a custom Avalanche chain for 2026 World Cup ticketing, loyalty and digital collectibles; AVAX rose about 8% in 24 hours.
FIFA is operating ticketing, loyalty and digital collectibles for the 2026 World Cup on a dedicated Avalanche Layer 1 blockchain announced in May 2025. FIFA migrated its official collectibles platform, FIFA Collect, to the new chain and engaged Modex to develop the marketplace.
The system issues Right-to-Ticket collectibles that grant verified access to official match tickets. Holders can convert those collectibles into actual tickets through a portal up to three days before each match.
On-chain metrics show a pickup in activity and new user sign-ups tied to the FIFA rollout and to Right-to-Ticket redemptions as they became available during the tournament window.
The AVAX token climbed nearly 8% over a 24-hour period after the FIFA integration and amid a wider improvement in market sentiment. The token had fallen more than 24% over the prior 30 days and was trading near $7.07 at the time of reporting.
Price charts show AVAX trading inside a falling wedge that formed since early 2026. Some traders regard a falling wedge as a possible bullish reversal. Immediate resistance is near the 50-day exponential moving average, around $7.44, while the lower boundary of the wedge and near-term support sit at about $6.22. A sustained move above the 100-day EMA and the wedge’s upper boundary at $8.29 could point to a measured target near $13.08. Trading volume profiles indicate increased buyer activity if price clears the wedge. The Relative Strength Index recorded a crossover while remaining below 50. A daily close below $6.22 would negate the wedge structure.
Ava Labs president John Wu confirmed the integration in interviews: “We’re super excited that FIFA and the World Cup that’s coming this summer is doing their loyalty and the right to buy tickets and ticket platform on an Avalanche blockchain.”
Market participants are tracking ticket redemptions, user growth on the Avalanche network and broader crypto sentiment to assess how those factors affect AVAX demand and price through the tournament period.
