Drake Name-Checks Bitcoin and Sam Bankman-Fried on Iceman
On May 15, 2026, Drake’s album Iceman name-checks Bitcoin and references Sam Bankman-Fried on the track “Dust,” where he calls himself a “BTC crypto big-timer.”
Drake released his album Iceman on May 15, 2026. On the track “Dust” he refers to Bitcoin and mentions former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, rapping “A BTC crypto big-timer” and “An FTX penthouse high-riser, yeah Samuel Bankman, free all my guys up.”
The Bitcoin line places the leading cryptocurrency into mainstream pop lyrics. The Sam Bankman-Fried reference names the former exchange chief and includes a call to free associates tied to his network.
Sam Bankman-Fried was convicted in 2023 in connection with the collapse of FTX. Prosecutors say roughly $8 billion in customer funds were missing after the exchange failed. He is serving a 25-year federal prison sentence and was denied a retrial earlier in 2026. Speculation about a possible presidential pardon circulated in parts of the crypto community in 2026.
Drake has previously placed multi-million dollar bets denominated in bitcoin on sporting events and lost a six-figure wager on the Dallas Mavericks during a recent NBA Finals run. The “BTC crypto big-timer” lyric adds to his public references to the asset.
Bitcoin was trading near $80,700 around the album’s release, below its October 2025 all-time high above $126,000.
References to Bitcoin have appeared in hip-hop, pop and electronic music for nearly a decade. Some members of the crypto community viewed Drake’s lyric as further mainstream visibility for the asset.
Celebrity mentions have sometimes coincided with increased retail attention, but past examples have not consistently produced sustained price moves.
