Decade-old Ethereum ICO wallet transfers 10,000 ETH
An Ethereum ICO wallet known as 0xCD59 moved 10,000 ETH after 10.8 years; the tokens were bought at $0.311 each and are now worth about $22.88 million.
On-chain records show wallet 0xCD59 transferred 10,000 ETH to a new address after 10.8 years of inactivity. The tokens were purchased during Ethereum’s initial coin offering at $0.311 each and are now worth about $22.88 million.
The wallet’s original outlay was roughly $3,100, representing about a 7,381-fold increase at current prices, according to on-chain analysts. The transfer moved the full balance from the dormant address into a fresh wallet; the transaction did not route funds to an address linked to a known crypto exchange.
Previous reactivations of long-dormant ICO wallets have produced different on-chain outcomes. One early wallet, 0xd64A, sold 11,552 ETH for about $23.42 million when ETH traded near $2,027; that address initially acquired 38,800 ETH for roughly $12,000 in the ICO. In December 2025, an address holding 40,000 ETH reactivated after more than a decade and staked the assets. In September 2025, an early holder moved 150,000 ETH to a new wallet and used it for staking rather than immediate liquidation.
Analysts tracking on-chain data note that transfers from long-dormant ICO wallets often attract attention but do not by themselves reveal the wallet owner’s intentions. The 0xCD59 address will be monitored for any further transfers or signs of exchange deposits.
