Cross River Adds Ripple’s RLUSD to Core Banking Platform

Cross River Bank has integrated Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin into its core banking platform, giving approved fintechs in some U.S. states access to dollar and RLUSD payments through one API.

Cross River Bank announced the integration on Oct. 15. Through its Core Operating System, approved fintech customers can move between U.S. dollars and RLUSD, settle cross-border payments and treasury transfers, and access ACH, wire and real-time payment services through one banking connection.

Cross River handles the connection to the XRP Ledger, so customers do not need to build or operate their own blockchain infrastructure. RLUSD services are available in a limited number of U.S. states, but the bank has not identified the states, named participating customers or disclosed transaction volumes or a broader rollout schedule.

The bank said the platform can support 24-hour settlement for cross-border payments and treasury transfers. It cited XRP Ledger settlement times of three to five seconds. ACH, wire and other conventional payment methods remain available through the Core Operating System.

“Businesses shouldn’t have to rely on several different providers to move money across the globe,” Adam Goller, Cross River’s head of fintech banking, said in the announcement. He described the integration as an addition to the bank’s existing traditional payment services.

Cross River and Ripple also presented the service as an option for payment networks, including card issuers and merchant acquirers. Those institutions could use it to settle transactions during the day and reduce delays associated with conventional settlement processes.

RLUSD is a U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin issued by Ripple. XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger. The announcement identified RLUSD as the payment asset supported by the integration and did not specify whether XRP would be used as an intermediary asset for customer transactions.

Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX at Ripple, described the partnership as a way for businesses to access stablecoin settlement through an existing banking relationship. Cross River provides the bank and blockchain connections through the same API.

The integration expands Cross River’s stablecoin platform, which the bank announced on Nov. 24, 2025, for approved fintech, enterprise and crypto partners. In a March 24 explanation, Luca Cosentino, Cross River’s head of crypto, described accounts that could send and receive stablecoins directly from dollar balances. He cited issuer integrations, automated liquidity and standardized APIs as features of the platform.

On Oct. 12, Standard Chartered announced custody services for eligible institutional clients holding XRP Ledger-issued RLUSD through its Dubai International Financial Centre branch. Cross River reported that RLUSD had a market capitalization of about $2.4 billion as of Oct. 16 and that more than $1 billion had been issued on the XRP Ledger.
