Circle guide still points users to Coinbase for Noble USDC

Circle’s Noble guide continued to direct users to buy Noble USDC on Coinbase after Coinbase’s Aug. 17 cutoff. Coinbase warned post-cutoff deposits may be unrecoverable and gave no cutoff time.

On Aug. 18, Circle’s public guide for the Noble network still directed users to buy Noble USDC on Coinbase despite Coinbase’s posted cutoff date of Aug. 17 for custodial Noble deposits and withdrawals. Coinbase warned that USDC sent to its Noble deposit addresses after Aug. 17 may not be recoverable and did not specify a cutoff time or timezone.

Coinbase’s July 15 notice said it would stop accepting custodial USDC deposits and withdrawals on the Noble network after Aug. 17 and urged customers not to send USDC to Noble deposit addresses after that date because such transfers could be lost. The notice described a transfer risk rather than confirming any irreversible losses.

Circle’s Noble product page continued to list Coinbase and instructed users to select Noble as the network as of Aug. 18. Coinbase’s general receiving guidance asks customers to confirm that the exchange supports the network they choose and warns that assets sent on unsupported networks can be lost and cannot be retrieved.

The cutoff applies to Coinbase’s custodial on-ramp and off-ramp for USDC on Noble, not to Noble-native USDC issuance. Noble has served as Circle’s native issuance chain for USDC in the Cosmos ecosystem since 2023. Eligible businesses can mint Noble-native USDC through Circle Mint, and users can hold Noble USDC in noncustodial wallets such as Cosmostation, Keplr and Leap.

Noble remains on Circle’s legacy CCTP V1 cross-chain transfer protocol while Circle plans to phase out that version over a 10-month period beginning in July 2026. Circle is working with Noble and Cosmos teams on an interim routing solution and has said pending redemptions will remain accessible during the phase-out, but it has not provided technical design details or a launch date.

A snapshot of Noble-specific supply taken at about 01:47 UTC on Aug. 18 showed $114.24 million of USDC issued on Noble, with $93.05 million bridged out and roughly $21.19 million circulating on the network. Circle previously reported more than $450 million of USDC on Noble as of March 2025; those figures use different dates and measurement scopes and are not directly comparable.

Coinbase lists Ethereum, Base, Solana, Arbitrum, Optimism and Polygon as other supported networks for USDC. Users moving USDC to or from Noble should verify the current status of deposit addresses and routing options. Circle and Noble teams report they are working on interim solutions, but specific technical details and timelines remain unspecified.
