Circle to Acquire Singapore Payments Firm Tazapay by 2027
Circle, issuer of USDC, signed an agreement to buy Singapore-based Tazapay; closing is expected in 2027 pending Monetary Authority of Singapore approval.
Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL) signed a definitive agreement to acquire Tazapay, a Singapore-headquartered B2B cross-border payments infrastructure company. The transaction is conditional on customary closing steps and regulatory approvals, including permission from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and is expected to complete in 2027.
Tazapay operates local payout rails in more than 100 markets, works with over 60 banking and fintech partners and processes roughly $25 billion in annualized payment volume. About 60% of Tazapay’s transactions already settle using stablecoins. Tazapay has been a design partner for Circle Payments Network since 2025.
Circle plans to integrate Tazapay’s infrastructure into the Circle Payments Network and its USDC operations to expand payment origination and termination across Asia-Pacific and other emerging markets. The company expects the combined network will support near-instant, around-the-clock settlement for stablecoin-denominated transactions.
Jeremy Allaire, co-founder, CEO and chairman of Circle, commented: “Stablecoin settlement is becoming core infrastructure in the global economy, and combining USDC with Tazapay’s world-class banking relationships, local payout rails, and institutional customer base will accelerate worldwide USDC adoption.”
Irfan Ganchi, senior vice president of payments at Circle, added: “Tazapay brings deep payment infrastructure across APAC and emerging markets. The acquisition increases Circle’s ability to originate and terminate payments globally, near-instant and 24/7, and supports broader USDC use for cross-border commerce.”
Rahul Shinghal, co-founder and CEO of Tazapay, stated: “We built Tazapay to make payments faster, remove friction, and reduce reliance on slower banking rails. Circle’s US dollar infrastructure and regulatory standing can help scale what we have built.”
Both companies indicated there will be no changes to Tazapay’s service, APIs, pricing or customer support while the agreement remains subject to regulatory review. Tazapay will continue operating for payment service providers and financial institutions until closing.
Circle’s platform includes the USDC stablecoin network, the Circle Payments Network for global money movement, and Arc, an enterprise blockchain product. Tazapay focuses on B2B cross-border payments infrastructure with a footprint concentrated in APAC and other emerging markets.
