Cardano faces two voting gaps with days to Sept. 1 deadline
Cardano’s vote to seat four elected committee members expires Sept. 1. DRep support is 41.7% (25.3 points short of 67%); SPO support is 12.0% (39.0 points short of 51%).
Cardano’s vote to seat four elected Constitutional Committee members enters its final week, with the motion set to expire at epoch 653 (Sept. 1). A live network-explorer reading on Aug. 25 recorded delegated representative support at 41.7% and stake pool operator support at 12.0%.
Both groups must meet role-specific approval thresholds for the motion to pass: delegated representatives (DReps) need 67% support and stake pool operators (SPOs) need 51%. On the CardanoScan basis the shortfalls are 25.3 percentage points for DReps and 39.0 points for SPOs.
Support has increased across dated snapshots. An Aug. 17 governance-tool snapshot showed 32.46% DRep support and 1.95% SPO support. An Aug. 21 snapshot recorded 37.9% for DReps and 7.93% for SPOs. The different displays reflect role-specific active-stake calculations and separate measurement methods.
If the vote expires without meeting both thresholds, the committee would drop from seven active members to three, two seats below the five-member minimum set by CIP-1694. Under CIP-1694 an undersized committee cannot ratify governance actions that require committee approval, preventing those motions from clearing ratification.
Blockchain operations such as block production and transaction processing would continue while committee-backed governance actions are constrained. CIP-1694’s ratification table exempts motions of no confidence from committee approval. Info Actions and Update Committee actions remain available in an undersized-committee state and can be used to refill seats; a future election can also restore committee size.
A governance tool has noted that a break in governance continuity could slow the planned Dijkstra hard fork. Votes and the distribution of active stake can still change before Sept. 1.
