Cardano has 42.6M ADA left under 500M withdrawal cap
Cardano governance has used 457.4 million ADA of its 500 million withdrawal limit, leaving 42.6 million ADA available through around July 3, 2027.
Cardano governance has used 457,395,629 ADA, or about 91.5% of its 500 million ADA withdrawal limit, as of Oct. 16. The remaining 42,604,371 ADA applies to new treasury withdrawals through around July 3, 2027.
The limit covers epochs 613 through 713. Epoch 613 began on Feb. 13, 2026. It counts gross withdrawals enacted during the period, including withdrawals made before the limit was raised to 500 million ADA.
Treasury income from transaction fees, donations and reserve allocations does not increase the remaining withdrawal authority. Returned grant money can raise the treasury balance but does not reverse the withdrawal already recorded. Proposed or unratified requests do not reduce the allowance until they become enacted actions that debit treasury funds.
The treasury held about 1.378 billion ADA in epoch 661, compared with about 1.337 billion ADA in epoch 650. The increase of about 40.9 million ADA did not change the withdrawal limit.
The 500 million ADA ceiling was recorded in an InfoAction submitted July 2. Its final voting summary, from epoch 647, showed 62.35% stake-weighted support from delegated representatives, or DReps. The Cardano Constitution requires more than 50% of active voting stake to approve a Net Change Limit and bars withdrawals above the applicable ceiling.
An InfoAction records governance agreement but does not itself withdraw funds or enact a protocol parameter. Cardano Foundation meeting notes from Aug. 5 recorded the increase to 500 million ADA. It remained the latest Net Change Limit in the InfoAction records checked on Oct. 16. Governance can approve another limit, while each treasury withdrawal requires a separate approval.
The Cardano Strategic Copper Reserve has requested 22 million ADA. The request was submitted in epoch 661 and remained unratified and unenacted on Oct. 16. If approved in full before another withdrawal, the remaining authority would fall to 20,604,371 ADA.
The project has committed to returning realized net copper-sale proceeds and unused funds by its 36th month. It does not guarantee the return of the original ADA principal. Any later repayment would increase treasury assets but would not restore the withdrawal capacity used when the funds were debited.
OpenZeppelin’s request for 11,787,063 ADA expired in epoch 661 without ratification or enactment. It therefore did not reduce the allowance. The latest enacted withdrawal in the period was AlphaGrowth’s 120 million ADA allocation for Cardano PRIME in epoch 650, which began Aug. 17.
Funds already withdrawn can continue to support approved programs without using additional withdrawal authority. Intersect’s Oct. 9 update recorded funding for MLabs’ Plutarch and Ply maintenance contract for 12 months across four quarterly cycles. A new treasury withdrawal would be needed only if additional funds were required.
DReps can approve new requests within the remaining 42.6 million ADA, authorize smaller amounts, defer proposals or agree to another Net Change Limit. The remaining authority does not represent the balances held by funded projects or the amount still available for their contracted work.
