Bitcoin Realized Cap Falls; Price Tests $76,700, Risks $71,300
Realized Cap declined after 27 straight gains as Bitcoin traded near $76,500. U.S. spot ETFs posted $746.3m outflows on Sept. 15–16; two closes below $76,700 could shift focus to $71,300.
Bitcoin’s Realized Cap contracted after 27 consecutive days of increases while the price traded near $76,500, and U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $746.3 million in net outflows over Sept. 15–16. Glassnode and Farside Investors provided the on-chain and fund-flow figures cited in the analysis.
Glassnode logged a drop in Realized Cap on Sept. 15 following 27 straight days of growth and noted another negative observation on Sept. 16. Realized Cap estimates the aggregate cost basis of coins by valuing each coin at the price when it last moved. A decline in Realized Cap indicates that coins on the ledger are being repriced lower on that cost-basis measure and is not the same as cash leaving the blockchain.
Farside Investors reported $450.4 million in net outflows from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs on Sept. 15 and $295.9 million on Sept. 16, totaling $746.3 million across the two sessions. Reported ETF flows do not identify individual investors and do not by themselves establish that ETF activity caused price moves. Exchange-traded crypto products can handle creations and redemptions either in cash or in kind, so fund-flow figures do not directly map to on-chain coin movements.
At a Sept. 17 snapshot, Bitcoin traded near $76,458, slightly under the $76,700 True Market Mean used in Glassnode’s framework as an on-chain cost-basis reference. Glassnode’s framework specifies a recovery condition and a break condition tied to that reference level. Two daily closes back above $76,700 combined with renewed Realized Cap growth would indicate a return to the prior on-chain range. A second close below $76,700 would confirm a break in that framework and shift attention to about $71,300, which Glassnode identifies as the average acquisition price for short-term holders.
Glassnode identified additional on-chain support below $71,300, approximately between $62,000 and $65,000. Those figures are presented as reference points based on cost-basis analysis and are not guaranteed price floors.
Price remained near the True Market Mean as the two demand-related indicators weakened: the Realized Cap contraction and the ETF outflows over Sept. 15–16. Market participants and analysts citing on-chain metrics are watching whether Realized Cap resumes growth and whether daily closes move above or below the $76,700 threshold to assess the next likely areas of investor cost basis and on-chain support.
