Bitcoin ETF inflows $137M, recoup 35.6% of outflows

Farside reported $137.3M in U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF inflows on Aug. 17, recovering 35.6% of a five-session $385.2M net outflow; Fidelity’s FBTC provided $111.9M (81.5%).

Farside reported $137.3 million of inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs on Aug. 17. The inflow recovered 35.6% of a five-session net outflow that totaled $385.2 million. Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) accounted for $111.9 million, or 81.5% of the reported total.

Two other funds posted numeric inflows: ARKB added $14.2 million and MSBT added $11.2 million. The remaining funds in the row showed 0.0. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) displayed a dash in Farside’s live table; the dash is distinct from a 0.0 entry and indicates IBIT’s flows for Aug. 17 were unresolved. Because of that unresolved cell, the session total is provisional.

The Aug. 17 inflow followed five sessions that together registered a $385.2 million net outflow. Farside’s daily totals for Aug. 10–14 were negative $144.6 million, positive $7.8 million, negative $61.1 million, negative $131.1 million and negative $56.2 million. After including the Aug. 17 inflow, the funds show a cumulative six-session net outflow of $247.9 million.

Farside’s flow figures do not identify the buyers of the ETF shares. Institutional desks, financial advisers and retail accounts can all use these products, so the data do not specify whether inflows came from large institutions or retail investors. The reported flows do not establish a causal link between ETF purchases and movements in Bitcoin’s market price.

The next completed Farside update may add a numeric entry for IBIT and report flows for subsequent sessions. Until that update, the Aug. 17 row should be treated as a provisional snapshot of ETF activity.
