Binance pre-IPO contract implies $2.1T Anthropic valuation
Binance’s pre-IPO perpetual for Anthropic traded above $2,100 on Sept. 9, implying a valuation above $2.1 trillion using the exchange’s estimated one‑billion‑share denominator.
On Sept. 9 Binance’s ANTHROPICUSDT pre‑IPO perpetual traded above $2,100, producing an implied company valuation above $2.1 trillion when the exchange’s estimated one‑billion‑share denominator is applied.
At 14:45 UTC the contract marked $2,168.26 with $26.1 million in open interest and $24.76 million in 24‑hour volume. A later snapshot showed a mark of $2,122.74, open interest up 6.1% over 24 hours and about $243,000 in liquidations.
The instrument is a derivatives contract on Binance and does not confer ownership in Anthropic. Binance’s listing specifies “an estimated one billion shares” and warns that “the actual total may differ” and that the exchange “does not endorse the resulting implied value.”
Binance sets the contract mark using a 10‑second average, lengthening the window when trading is sparse and limiting mark movement to no more than 1% per second. The perpetual allows up to 20x leverage and charges funding at +0.005% every eight hours. Margin shortfalls can lead to forced liquidations.
The contract’s implied value is larger than Anthropic’s most recent disclosed private financing. In May Anthropic reported its Series H raised $65 billion at a $965 billion post‑money valuation and said its run‑rate revenue had passed $47 billion.
Binance Research recorded a contract mark in August that implied nearly $2 trillion and noted the mark closed Aug. 31 near $1.9 trillion when the one‑billion‑share convention was used.
Exchanges can change the technical denominator that converts a per‑contract quote into an implied company value. One exchange adjusted its Anthropic denominator from one billion to 10 billion and described the adjustment as value‑neutral. Binance’s documentation states it may rescale mark prices and position quantities if a revised or actual denominator becomes available, with the aim of preserving notional value.
Anthropic filed a confidential draft Form S‑1 on June 1 and has not set the number of shares or the offer price. Reports indicate marketing could begin in mid‑October and a public prospectus could appear in late September, but those timetables can change.
Until public offer terms or a listed share price exist, the ANTHROPICUSDT mark reflects Binance’s pricing rules, participant activity, and the exchange’s chosen share‑count convention.
