Apple and Google hire stablecoin experts
Apple and Google posted senior job listings mentioning stablecoins and tokenized deposits. Apple seeks a US Apple Pay product strategy lead; Google seeks a Web3 cloud architect in Hong Kong.
Apple and Google posted senior job listings referencing stablecoins and tokenized deposits that surfaced on September 20–21, 2026. Apple is hiring an Apple Pay Financial Product Strategy Lead in the United States; Google is hiring an Industry Principal Architect for Web3 for Google Cloud in Hong Kong.
Apple’s posting, dated August 26, places the role inside the Apple Card and Apple Cash unit. The job description frames the role as product strategy work: evaluating new product structures, commercial models, potential partnerships and shaping long-term financial product strategy. Knowledge of stablecoins, tokenized deposits and blockchain appears among preferred qualifications rather than mandatory requirements.
Turning stored Apple Cash balances into tokenized or on-chain instruments would require banking partners, legal analysis and regulatory approval. Consumer platforms can enable access to stablecoin balances or on-ramps through third-party integrations without issuing a stablecoin.
Google’s listing sits in Google Cloud and is aimed at institutional clients across Asia-Pacific. The Hong Kong role names target customers including protocol foundations, institutional exchanges, digital asset custodians and banks. The posting lists use cases such as real-world asset tokenization, stablecoin payment networks, tokenized deposits and custody architecture for regulated environments.
The Google position asks for deep technical experience, including system architecture, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure and production-grade blockchain deployments. It also highlights security skills such as multi-party computation, hardware security modules, transaction-signing systems and confidential computing. Google Cloud already offers Web3 infrastructure and products intended for ledger and payments use cases.
Hong Kong launched a licensing regime for fiat-referenced stablecoin issuers on August 1, 2025, granted initial issuer licenses in April 2026 and has moved to allow regulated stablecoins to trade on licensed platforms and to settle tokenized funds under local rules. The Hong Kong role is positioned to work with clients designing security and compliance frameworks that align with requirements from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Securities and Futures Commission.
Neither job posting includes a product announcement, an issuer license application, named banking partners, a timeline or a specified blockchain. Both listings describe skills and questions the companies want addressed rather than announcing a specific product. The Apple role is based in a consumer payments unit; the Google role sits in cloud infrastructure for institutional clients.
