Tangem NFC Card, Ring Now in 200+ Best Buy Stores
Tangem is selling its NFC card and Tangem Ring hardware wallets in more than 200 Best Buy stores across the United States.
Swiss company Tangem has begun selling its NFC card and the Tangem Ring hardware wallets in more than 200 Best Buy stores across the United States. The rollout is the company’s largest U.S. retail expansion and adds to its presence on the Walmart marketplace and Amazon.
The two products on store shelves are a credit card–sized NFC card and a ceramic wearable called the Tangem Ring. Both devices store private keys on a secure chip inside the device rather than on a server or a smartphone. Tangem offers physical backup cards as an alternative to a written recovery phrase; owners can still import a recovery phrase if they prefer.
Demand for hardware wallets has increased as some cryptocurrency holders move funds off exchanges and into self-custody. Hardware wallets keep private keys offline, which reduces exposure to online attacks and exchange failures. Chainalysis data shows stolen crypto totaled $3.4 billion in 2025, including a $1.5 billion breach at Bybit that was recorded as the largest single hack in the industry’s history. About 158,000 personal wallet compromises were reported last year. Stricter exchange rules and identity checks have led some users to manage their own keys.
Market research firm Mordor Intelligence projects the hardware wallet market will reach $2.25 billion by 2031 and values it near $720 million in 2026, with retail shoppers expected to drive much of the growth.
Other companies are offering consumer-facing self-custody products; examples include firms that simplify backups and user experience for newcomers and large technology firms that have marketed self-custody Bitcoin wallets to mainstream customers. Retail distribution at national chains brings these devices to general electronics shoppers as well as to specialist crypto stores and online marketplaces.
Retailers and industry analysts are monitoring whether greater availability in big-box stores will attract new self-custody users or primarily provide easier access for existing crypto holders.
